When John Henry's mom contacted me for a cookie and later told me he would like it to include anything along the lines of dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, or skateboards, I decided to focus on all the extreme sports and not just one. The problem with that was getting all that those intricate machines on one cookie without making it too complicated. Instead, I chose to do silhouettes of someone riding each machine. I found some really cool graphics online that I translated into icing and I think the overall effect was really successful. Part of the success of the silhouettes is that they are all set against the vibrant orange of the 6 that helps them stand out even more.
The layering of all all the bright colors and the use of a white outline creates an effect that makes the silhouettes pop and enhances the border as well making the whole cookie work together.
It's always nice when I can make a cookie come together like that especially when in the early phases of the design I wasn't confident that I can pull it off. Luckily, the more cookies I create, the more design techniques I learn to really make a cookie come together and stand out. John Henry and his mom LOVED the cookie and no matter what I think of the design that's the ultimate goal when I make any cookie so I couldn't be happier.
